The Beginning of
Our Story
Dr. Dhani Ram Baruah’s journey began not in the halls of conformity, but at the crossroads of innovation and audacity. Challenging medical orthodoxy, he envisioned a future where human lives could be saved through revolutionary breakthroughs in xenotransplantation and genetic engineering.
In the early 1990s, when organ shortages claimed countless lives, Dr. Baruah dared to ask: What if we could bridge the species barrier? His relentless pursuit of answers laid the foundation for a lifetime of research that would ignite global conversations, stir scientific controversies, and inspire the next generation of boundary-pushing physicians.
This is not just a story of medical progress—it’s a story of vision, courage, and a belief that tomorrow’s science begins with today’s questions.

Innovations and Contributions
Baruah siRNA & Combat Genes
Developed a plant‑derived siRNA platform from Himalayan medicinal plants, leading to 12 patented “Combat Genes” with potential applications against Cancer and HIV/AIDS.Artificial Heart Technologies
Invented multiple next‑generation heart valves—including the Zirconium Bileaflet Mechanical Valve and Stented/Stentless Pericardial Trileaflet Valves—plus the fully implantable biological “Baruah Heart 21.”Xenotransplantation Breakthroughs
Pioneered the first clinical pig‑to‑human heart transplant (1996–97) using his Antigen Suppression Agent (ASA) to prevent hyperacute rejection, and developed a pig‑lung Biological Oxygenator and in‑vivo pig‑to‑human blood transfusion protocols.Genomic & Regenerative Research
First to perform total human genomic mapping with miRNA profiling in diseased states, laying groundwork for precision gene therapies.
